The Ukraine passed the national anti-doping laws

In Ukraine passed national anti-doping laws of the new World Anti-Doping Code. The statement was made by the Director of the National Anti-Doping Center Ivan Kurlischuk at the meeting of the Expert Council on the preparation and participation of Ukrainian sportsmen in the Olympic Games.

Kurlischuk recalled that the new edition of the World Anti-Doping Code came into force on 1 January this year.

«National Anti-Doping laws developed by the National Anti-Doping Center at the request of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). They are adapted to the international standards. In letter WADA has confirmed that the rules meet the World Anti-Doping Code. After approval by the general order of the Minister of Ukraine on affairs of the Family, Youth and Sports Yuriy Pavlenko and President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Sergey Bubka The national anti-doping rules will take effect in Ukraine », – said the director of the National Anti-Doping Center.

Ivan Kurlischuk informed the meeting of the Expert Council, that the national anti-doping rules contain basic responsibilities for the implementation of the provisions of the new edition of the World Anti-Doping Code, adapted to existing laws and characteristics of sports of Ukraine.

Director of the National Anti-Doping Center also reported that the lab today is a candidate for accreditation of the World Anti-Doping Agency. Normally the process of accreditation takes at least two years, but that must be met certain requirements. One of them – three thousand athletes doping samples per year, a modern laboratory equipment.

Today is National Anti-Doping Center needs to increase funding and expand the area, as required by WADA for each group of drugs should have a separate room.

Ivan Kurlischuk noted that the area of anti-doping laboratory of the National Center – 148 square meters, and should be – at least 1200 square meters.

At the moment, the world’s 32 laboratories are accredited by WADA. This year the World Anti-Doping Agency laboratory accreditation deprive Turkey and Malaysia.
